Fees

The Master of Family Medicine programme has annual fees. The fees for September 2025 entry are:

Tuition fees increase every year in the majority of cases.

For students whose studies commenced in 2022-23 or earlier, tuition fees will increase each year. You should take this annual tuition fee increase into consideration when you estimate your fees for a degree.

From 2023-24 tuition fees for new entrants were fixed for the duration of their programme. If you applied to start from August 2024 onwards, the fee charged has been fixed at the level charged on the year of entry.

Scholarship and Sponsorship

The Carl and Gillean Kjeldsberg Online Scholarships in Family Medicine
Applications for the Carl and Gillean Kjeldsberg Scholarships for the Masters in Family Medicine is now closed. These scholarships were awarded to outstanding African health workers who are living and working in any African country and who have a passion to strengthen family medicine and primary health care within their country and region. The full Scholarship will cover the three years of the Masters programme, and will be dependent on satisfactory completion of all courses each year according to University regulations.
 
Edinburgh Global Online Learning Scholarships for Refugees and Displaced Students
The University of Edinburgh had 20 scholarships for eligible refugees and displaced students studying towards a part-time distance learning programme offered by the University in session 2025/26. The deadline for applying for this scholarship has now passed.
 
The Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to applicants who are accepted for admission in the following academic year on an eligible Human Medical programme. The Glenmore Postgraduate Scholarship is now closed for 2025. 
 
Awards by Region
A number of Scholarships are available and are awarded specifically by region.
 
Graduate Scholarship Scheme
There is a 10% discount in postgraduate tuition fees for all alumni who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh. This applies to the self-funding element of the postgraduate tuition fee and is available to both home and overseas students.
 
Employer Sponsorship
Some students are supported in their studies by their employers with study time and/or contribution towards fees. If you are seeking support from your employer, you will probably need to demonstrate how the programme will contribute to your professional development in your current role. 
 
If your employer has a policy of supporting continuing professional development, and may be willing to add these programmes to their approved list, they should contact the programme director for further information.
