Information for attendees of the University of Edinburgh's Masters in Family Medicine Summer School programme Aim of our summer school The summer school aims to build the international community of practice by bringing together students, alumni and tutors from a variety of backgrounds and cultural contexts to participate in joint learning activities. Together we will examine in more detail the themes that form the ‘golden threads’ of our programme: clinical scholarship, leadership, quality improvement and identity as a family physician. This year we will also explore the theme of professionalism in family practice. These themes are explored in the participant's local context with an emphasis on impact and change in clinical practice. Learning objectives Work with critical awareness to understand professionalism in the context of family practice. Explore identity and as a family physician and discuss its role in shaping future leadership within the profession. Use the skills gained to develop original and creative responses which will influence the delivery to family medicine practice in the local context. Work with peers to debate and discuss complex professional issues and make informed judgements.
