The SDGs and why they matter to us

The SDGs provide a structure for us as a University to contribute into the larger global response, in ways that are both measurable and collective.

The Sustainable Development Goals: Responding to global challenges

Each of the 17 goals, with their targets and indicators, highlight that global, national and regional engagement is needed. As a road map to tackle the global challenges and a vision of what a future world could look like, the goals require consilience rather than silo thinking.

If we realize our ambitions across the full extent of the Agenda, the lives of all will be profoundly improved and our world will be transformed for the better.

Our commitment as a University

We have  articulated in our University  “Strategy 2030” a  commitment to embedding a collective response to meeting these targets – both internally by modelling the practices that will achieve a better world, and externally by delivering teaching, research and praxis that actively contributes to the targets and indicators of the goals.

These commitments are further strengthened through our participation in the U7 Alliance – a network of over 45 universities taking action to address global challenges.
